A story relayed to me: A taxi driver had a passenger who passed out in the backseat while traveling from Accra to Tema. Reaching a red stop light, the driver opted to pass through the intersection and was stopped by the police. Explaining the situation, the officer took the driver's license and suggested that he bring back 200 GHC after taking the passenger to the hospital. The police were unconcerned about the passed out passenger. When the driver returned from the hospital, he asked instead for 40 GHC and sent on his way.
